For many years the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has been a driving force in in the battle to push concussion awareness in youth sports. Towards this end, they developed a unique program known as HEADS UP that is best described by this direct quote from their website:
"To help ensure the health and safety of young athletes, CDC developed the HEADS UP Concussion in Youth Sports initiative to offer information about concussions to coaches, parents, and athletes involved in youth sports. The HEADS UP initiative provides important information on preventing, recognizing, and responding to a concussion."
It is a requirement by the Oxon Hill Boys and Girls Club that all coaches and volunteers complete the online course via this link.
